Lancashire Telegraph review by Kate Turner from April 3, 2010.

Arranging for a mid-week catch up with the girls, we decide to book a table at popular Italian restaurant Carlo’s.

Although the streets of Colne are quiet, inside Carlo’s it is heaving, feeling more like a Friday night than a Wednesday.

We take a seat in the comfortable waiting area which, like the rest of the restaurant, has a lively, friendly vibe.

Tucked away in the corner is a beautiful baby grand piano which is played on weekend evenings.

After taking a look at the menu, we notice the Monday and Wednesday pizza and pasta deal for just £4.95, which may explain how busy it is.

The menu is extensive offering a good range of food but doesn’t have anything particularly exciting or out of the ordinary.

For starters I order a Bruschetta Piccante for £2.99, Italian bread topped with tomatoes, chillies and olive oil, which is tasty with a good mixture of all the ingredients and a good size.

My friends all ordered Mozzarella Carozza, mozzarella cheese in breadcrumbs, deep fried and served with tomato sauce for £5.99, which they said was nice but over-priced.

For the main course I had Tagliatelle Alla Diavola, with tomato, garlic, chilli, onions, peppers and cream, I also asked to have chicken added to the dish which they happily did for no extra cost.

The portion size was good, and the pasta was tasty but did become a bit uninspiring after a few mouthfuls.

The service was a little slow but the staff were friendly and the atmosphere keeps couples and families alike coming back again and again.
