WE visited this popular village eatery and found a menu that was both adventurous and delicious.

It included impala (African antelope), wild boar and wildebeest - all choices tried and enjoyed by our party - but there are more traditional pub meals available.

Starters were just as good, and we were all too stuffed for a pudding but the choices were traditional fare.

When it came to drinks, the men were very impressed by the selection of beers available - with two casks from Skipton's Copper Dragon brewery - while wine was a bit more limited.

We did seem to have a wait for our food, but the pub was busy and the staff were very friendly. Even the chef found time to come out and say hello.

The Sun is a cosy and friendly hostelry. Regulars were drinking at the bar, but were far from rowdy, and when I went on a Saturday night, we had the choice to head into the function room after dinner to watch a local band's gig.

There's something for everyone here - specials like the impala will cost you £15.50, but the regular pub grub dishes are around the £6 to £10 mark.

Our bill worked out at about £20 per head for starter, main course and wine - and we all agreed it was worth every penny.
