Lancashire Telegraph review by Alan Simpson from April 10, 2007.

OBVIOUSLY a lot of people think DaGiorgio's on the hill in Colne is great.

There was a horde of locals already filling the place when we called on a midweek evening.

As tables became free they were quickly reinhabited and a throng of folk came and went. Despite the high volume of customers the service was excellent and friendly.

The furniture and decor was simple bordering on bare.

And the taped Italian opera singer fought all night to be heard above the enjoyment of the diners.

But we found the experience disappointing.

Our starters and main courses tasted over-herbed and while I am sure the chefs use only the best in fresh produce the end result we felt was more Chicken Tonight than haute cuisine.

There wasn't even the ubiquitous sprinkling of freshly chopped basil on any of the dishes.

While the two slices of bread oozing hot garlic butter were delicious at £2.60 they were a bit on the pricey side.

As was the main chicken course I had at more than £12 a throw.

However we looked to be in a minority of two to be less than pleased and the general hubbub showed the place had a lot to offer most people.
