DINING out is usually a rushed or last minute decision in my world.

So, anywhere that’s got a good reputation is usually on my radar, and this time The Willows was detected!

I had heard that the food is good and the value even better, so after arriving and choosing our seat away from the busy bar area, my friend and I were pleased with our choice.

Not only does it have a friendly atmosphere, but it was two for one on all main meals. An absolute bargain for those on a budget, or those wanting to spend less on food and more on wine (and this week we were the latter).

There’s lots to chose from - traditional pub grub like scampi and chips or Mexican dishes for those wanting a spicy kick.

Tempted by the grill, I picked the gammon steak (with pineapple) and my friend, the sirloin. The gammon was the cheapest, which took £10.70 off the bill before we had even started.

When the dishes arrived, I was very pleased. The food was hot and the portion was generous, something I wasn’t expecting with my free meal.

Chips, onion rings and coleslaw made the sirloin look even more tempting, with peppercorn sauce, my dining partner was happy and it’s something I will try next time.

To accompany our food - a large glass of Sauvignon Blanc was calling, and at £5.20 each, we opted for the bottle at £13.75.

The offers on at The Willows are very good and if you go online, you can print off a free drinks voucher for when you visit.

The Sunday lunches, children’s menu and a dessert menu all look good, and it’s family-friendly. The offers are valid on various days, so check before you go.
