SOME people use the words Chilean Merlot' with a dismissive air.
That's a mistake because in Chile there's Merlot and Merlot.
This is definitely the latter. Cono Sur is one of the country's best-known wine brands.
Here's a strong (14.5%), mature, deep ruby wine which smells and tastes of cherries mixed with rich dark chocolate.
In short it's absolutely scrumptious and excellently priced.
CONO SUR RESERVE MERLOT 2004, £6.99, Morrisons
