Kareena Kapoor Khan's Madame Tussauds wax figure took up residence at the World famous attraction's original venue in London recently.

The figure, first unveiled at Madame Tussauds Blackpool in 2011, is moving to join the Bollywood line-up in London in response to overwhelming fan demand.

The award-winning actress, who has starred in some of India's top-grossing productions including Golmaal 3, Bodyguard and Ra.One, is also known as a fashion icon and was closely involved in the styling of and creation of her figure.

The figure wears a black bejewelled dress donated by Kareena herself.

The figure took four months to make at a cost of £150,000 and has been a huge hit with visitors to Madame Tussauds Blackpool since it was first launched.

Matthew Clarkson, marketing manager at Madame Tussauds London, said: “We are really pleased to welcome Kareena's wax figure to London today and we know her fans are going to be delighted to meet her here over the summer.

"We have been inundated with requests for this amazing figure to come to London so our guests can get to “meet” their heroine. With Kareena joining our other Bollywood superstars until late summer, it is certainly a great time for Indian film fans to visit.”

On seeing her wax figure for the first time in 2011, Kareena said: “It is an honour and a privilege for me to have my own Madame Tussauds wax figure — this is a moment of pride for Indian cinema.

“The figure looks incredible and is so lifelike.

“ I had to do a double take when I saw myself — they have really done a superb job at capturing my essence.”

Fan, Shahnaz, on meeting Kareena’s figure said: “Her figure is amazing — so glamorous, just like the real Kareena.

“The whole Bollywood line-up is magical and a real must see for all, whether they are Bollywood fans or not.”
