A NEWLY-revamped singing group will be celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with its debut concert.
Pendle Voices has been formed from what was Pendle Opera, and will stage the Proms-style Best Of British concert at The ACE Centre on Sunday.
Rule Britannia, Land Of Hope And Glory and Jerusalem are all on the bill, as well as Gilbert and Sullivan excerpts and more modern numbers by Andrew Lloyd-Webber.
Spokeswoman Dorothy Dawes said: The Best Of British should get you in the mood for the Jubilee celebrations.
“There will be the traditionally popular Proms songs will be there, and musical and dramatic items catering for all tastes representing everything from the reign of the first Elizabeth to that of our present Queen – ranging from an Elizabethan madrigal to The Beatles, and from Handel and Holst to Andrew Lloyd-Webber.”
Local baritone John Garrett is Pendle Voice’s guest soloist, as well as young soprano Charlotte Waters, and dramatic contributions from John and Lynne Cummings, among others.
Proceeds will be donated to local charities.
