One-man punk show Ed Hamell, aka Hamell On Trial, is playing four gigs in UK, including Bolton on April 3 and Manchester on April 5.
Descibed as “Bill Hicks, Hunter S Thompson and Joe Strummer all rolled into one”, he's performing his This Is Your Brain On Rock ‘N’ Roll show before setting off on a mini-tour of Ireland.
He is recording on Righteous Babe records, the label started by his long-term supporter Ani Difranco.
Until 2000, Hamell would play up to 250 shows a year, but after being badly injured in a car crash, it took the singer some time to recover from serious head and spinal injuries.
Once give the all-clear, he released Ed’s Not Dead: Hamell Comes Alive in 2001. In January this year he completed 365 days writing and posting a new song every day.
* Hamell On Trial will play the Dog and Partridge, in Manor Street, Bolton, on Sunday, April 3, 8pm, free; Ruby Lounge, High Street, Manchester, on Tuesday, April 5, 7.30pm, £10.
