WHAT is it with so-called style gurus? Why is it they always look as though they have been raiding the dressing up box?

Last night on Four we were introduced to the latest fashion expert, the unlikely named Gok Wan, who we were told had helped style Madonna and numerous other pop stars.

His remit? To persuade some some very shy members of the public to gain confidence in their bodies and then pose naked.

First up was Susan who was so embarrassed about her larger figure that she wouldn't get undressed in front of her husband.

Old Gok soon went into action charming and smarming his way into her confidence.

Susan clearly hadn't noticed that the man who was giving her style advice was wearing the most ridiculous pair of glasses since Data on Star Wars.

How To Look Good Naked is really a cross between 10 Years Younger and Trinny and Susannah.

There were plenty of shots of Susan and her guru going shopping, she picking out items from the rail which he would look disgusted at before suggesting something else.

Thanks to a trendy new haircut and stylish clothes you could see the confidence return and Susan did indeed agree to pose naked for a photograph all very tastefully done.

I'm sure the programme offered plenty of good advice about what styles suit which body shapes but why did the programme makers insist on using shots of catwalk models to illustrate the point they were trying to make?

Surely real women would have been better?
