WE'VE had Jamie and Delia, Nigella and Gordon but now there are two new names to add to the list of TV chefs Si and Dave.

They may look more like they hold regular axe throwing contests in the back garden with fellow members of a Hell's Angel chapter but the Big Hairy Bikers are genuine food lovers and I think a cult TV show has been born.

Quite what foodies make of the unlikely duo with their distinctly northern accents and apparent disregard for the finer points of cooking "don't bother measuring, just chuck it in" was one of their better instructions but they do provide a genuinely hilarious half hour.

Credit the Beeb too for a touch of genius. Rather than letting our dynamic duo roar around the UK on their bikes looking for roadkill to turn into a delicacy, they sent them to the Namibian desert. What you got was part travelogue and part surreal comedy.

If the Fast Show had ever come up with two TV chefs you suspect it would have been these two.

"I'm just mincing up my zebra for the burgers," said Si in the middle of the shifting sands.

How useful the obligatory cook book which will accompany the series will be I'm not sure I can just see someone walking into the butchers and asking for a couple of antelope steaks and a nice piece of crocodile.

But forget the recipes and just enjoy one of the funniest 30 minutes on the TV.
