I WISH every town had a Claire Robertson.
She's the former Woolworths branch manager from Dorchester who refused to give up when her store closed its doors after the firm went into administration last December.
Instead of trying to find a new job, or going on the dole, Claire had a plan: she would re-open the store under the name Wellworths and re-hire all the old employees. What a woman.
Last night's documentary, How Woolies Became Wellies: One Woman's Fight for the High Street on BBC1, showed how Claire and her employees turned the empty shell of the old store into a fully-functioning shop in just five weeks.
With low points, high points, and a few comedy moments thrown in for good measure, Claire managed to turn her dream into a reality.
She refused to give up on the high street institution and Dorchester is a better place for it.
I hope everyone in the town makes sure they give all the custom they can to this woman — she's a star in my eyes.
