An open air performance of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream is coming to Lancashire this Wednesday.

Heartbreak Productions, a company based in Leamington Spa who have been touring their outdoor events for 30 years, will be putting on the show in the grounds of Heskin Hall in Chorley on Wednesday June 16 at 6.30pm.

The production company have put an environmental spin on the performance, which will see unsuspecting mortals, camped at an environmental protest, unaware of the fairies lurking in the woods ready as ever to unleash magic and mayhem upon any human who dares to venture into the mystical wood.

A spokesperson for the production company said: "Join Oberon, Titania, and the ever-playful Puck as we weave our way through this tale of tangled lovers, warring fairies, and hapless human beings.

"Using Shakespeare’s timeless imagery, Heartbreak’s production emphasises the importance of the environment and using our earth’s resources wisely.

"The costumes and sets are all created from recycled materials.

"Pack a picnic (and chair or rug), dress in weather appropriate clothing, and join Heartbreak Productions for Shakespeare’s eco-centric, outdoor-theatre favourite, A Midsummer Night’s Dream."

Heartbreak's 2020 tour was cancelled due to pandemic, but the production company are finally able to return to open air venues with the shows they planned for last year, which include The Great Gatsby, Wonder With Grimm, Mr Stink, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Heartbreak’s Executive Director, Maddy Kerr, said: “We are so delighted to be able to tour again this summer and hope we can continue to provide safe and exciting entertainment for audiences as the restrictions gradually ease.

"We can’t wait to see people relaxing with a picnic and soaking up some much needed sunshine - and enjoying some cracking theatre."
