A LOUISIANA musician who is fast becoming a blues rock icon will be performing in Warrington later this year.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd has been selling millions of albums, throwing singles into the top 10, shining a light on the rich blues of the past and forging ahead with his own modern twist on a classic sound – a niche that he perfected while still in his teens.
When he was just seven he met Stevie Ray Vaughan, then shared the stage with New Orleans legend Bryan Lee at 13.
Now in his 30s, Kenny continues to create genre-defining, blues-infused rock and roll.
He is playing at Parr Hall on October 23.
Holly Jones, from Culture Warrington, said: “Utter the phrase young blues guitarist within earshot of anyone with even a cursory knowledge of modern music and the first name they are likely to respond with will be Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
“He is widely considered to be one of the industry’s best blues and rock guitarists – James Brown once referred to him as one of the wonders of the world and he has had six number one blues albums and a string of number one mainstream rock singles.
“Now he is heading to Warrington for an unforgettable night of musical mastery.”
