BLACKBURN Arts Club aims to have its audiences rolling in the aisles with a season of hilarious comedies designed to exercise the chuckle muscle.
Kicking off proceedings next month is Shakers Re:Stirred by John Godber and Jane Thornton which started life as Shakers for Hull Truck Theatre in 1985. It was brought up to date in 1991 - hence Re:Stirred - and got a musical treatment in 1996.
An irreverent fast-moving comedy, it tells the tale of four waitresses trying to hold it together working for a slightly sleazy boss in a less-than-salubrious cocktail bar. They each let the audience in on their inner-most secrets, hopes and dreams.
In true Godber style it pulls no punches but fires comedy gems like a scattergun.
Providing the laughs are cast members Neely Jillings, Charlotte McConnell, Rachel Nolan and Claire St Pierre under the direction of Lisa-Marie Hunt whose Talking Heads took the NODA award for Best Artistic Direction of a Play in 2014.
Shakers Re:stirred runs from Tuesday to Saturday, September 22-26 at the Club Playhouse, Gibraltar Street. Tickets are available to book now on 01254 664642 or 52910 with concessions Tue/Wed only.
