BLACKBURN-born actress Wendi Peters will star in a new touring production of the satirical musical Oh What A Lovely War which comes to Manchester Opera House in February.
Best known for playing Cilla Battersby in the nation’s favourite soap Coronation Street, Wendi has also appeared in London’s West End and came to Manchester last year in the seasonal musical White Christmas.
She will be joined at the Opera House in Oh What A Lovely War by fellow Corrie and EastEnders star Ian Reddington.
The production, directed by Olivier Award-winner Terry Johnson was revived at the Theatre Royal Stratford East in February last year to great critical acclaim.
The biting satire on the futility of war features many familiar songs from the 1914-18 conflict including It’s A Long Way to Tipperary and Pack Up Your Troubles.
