BURNLEY’S Christmas party promises to be a fairly low-key affair if their Premier League rivals are anything to go by.

Blackburn Rovers jetted off to Stockholm last weekend, while Stoke’s was a near disaster before it had even begun after James Beattie took exception to manager Tony Pulis pulling the plug on a long weekend in London.

The Clarets are holding a staff do at Turf Moor the week after next.

"But Wade Elliott says it will have to go some way to beating his favourite festive bash.

“The best ones are usually fancy dress. When I was at Bournemouth we all went in drag,” he said, “Before the do I walked through the high street one afternoon and looked through New Look.

"Four of the lads were at the back helping each other on with knee-high boots!

"That was the best Christmas party.

"Jermain Defoe turned up looking like one of the Supremes, and I looked like Barbara Windsor!”
