POOR posture is causing many motorists to suffer what experts are calling repetitive driving injury (RDI).

Together with ergonomics expert Professor Mark Porter, of Loughborough University, eBayMotors.co.uk has identified the four most common driving positions and their related problems.

They are:

* THE ROLLERCOASTER - Affects 37% of the population. Driver leans forward and sits upright, with seat forward, bent legs and bent arms. RDI symptoms are shoulder pain, neck strain, leg cramp and side ache.

* The MULTI-TASKER - Affects 26%. Driver has straight back, arms bent, one hand on gear stick. Symptoms - headaches and eyestrain, feet cramp.

* THE RACER - Affects 19%. Straight arms, seat reclined, straight legs, low driving position. Symptoms - side aches and lumbar pain.

* THE PIMP - Affects 8%. Seat inclined, arm on window ledge/outside the window, one hand on wheel. Typical posture of male drivers aged 25 to 35.Symptoms - arm and shoulder ache.
