A FORMER Blackburn schoolgirl has asked Bygones' readers for their help in tracing a photograph of her late father.

Christine Noray, nee Nicholson, remembers seeing the image of her dad, Frederick George Nicholson, in the school library, while a pupil at St Edmund Arrowsmith’s School in Green Lane, Blackburn, in the early 1970s.

She said this week: "I remember being amazed to see the photographs, one a long shot of the market clock tower and a close up of him cleaning the clock face on a big ladder.

"This was particularly special to me at the time as my father had passed away in 1968, when I was just 11-years-old."

Christine added: "I am not aware of him working for the council or the market, so have no idea why he was up there.

"I am now in my sixties and would love to find that picture and that book. It must have been some kind of nostalgic publication, as the market tower was demolished in the early sixties. I hope someone can point me in the right direction."
