RAWTENSTALL’S oldest resident in 1961, William Albert Lord, who was known as Tom, died at the age of 90.
A native of Burnley, he spent 53 years in the cotton trade, working in mills throughout the area and as a cotton salesman.
He had a long connection with Longholme Methodists and was also an official of Rakefoot Methodist Church in Crawshawbooth.
He was president of Longholme Methodist choir and was also a big sportsman, playing for Loveclough against Preston North End in the 1900s.
