NELSON Salvation Army paid their tribute to the children of Aberfan with music, song and generosity in 1966.
When the Welsh School was hit by a massive coal slurry landslide, a capacity audience attended a fundraising concert at the Army Citadel.
Afterwards, the Mayor, Coun K Spence was handed a cheque for £50 for his Aberfan fund by songster leader G Packam, who arranged the programme.
Guest artists included Gerald Latham, bass and Doris Atkins, soprano who were accompanied by Mrs Metcalfe, while cornet player was Brian Howard.
There were recitals by pupils of Mrs Hey and the Army band was led by T Nicholson.
