WITH holidays fast approaching, here’s a photo from the summer of 1948, when a group of young lads enjoyed a day out by the sea.
The lads, who are appropriately suited and booted — with a number sent off to the coast with their school caps — were the choir boys of St Jude’s in Blackburn.
And they smiled for the camera at the railway station as they looked forward to a day in Southport.
Thanks to Roy Parker who sent Looking back this image and he is third from the left on the front row, wearing his best short pant suit and collar and tie.
Other names he recalls are Brian Perry, in the very centre of the photo, Eric Parker, first on the right on the front, Colin Cronshaw, back row right, and Brian Naylor, who’s on the back in the centre.
He also remembers Eric Walsh, Brian Leigh, and Gordon Wilkinson.
Maybe you remember others from those days?
