THIS is the tail of the black and white cat who found the purr-fect' place for a nap - unfortunately it was 60 feet up a tree!
And when Squibs went up in its branches, she often couldn't get down and had to be rescued by the fire brigade.
The feline was the pet of David Gedling, who was eight in this picture taken in 1968, and his little brother, Ernie, was three.
They lived in Brunswick Street, Nelson, and Squibs' favourite tree was an elm in nearby Walverden Park.
Her escapade that particular summer involved going for a nap in the uppermost branches.
But she ended up having to spend two days on her perch before fireman Sydney Waddington lassooed her and brought her back down to earth.
Squibs had caused a stir some months previously, when 12-year-old David Johnson, of Selby Street, Nelson, tried to coax her down from the same tree - but got stuck himself!
Nelson Fire Brigade were called out to rescue both cat and boy!
