THIS week we recall the best days in the life of George Alderson, as a pupil of Accrington Grammar School.
He has sent in this photo of form 2A, 1949/50, taken in the school playground when it was in Blackburn Road.
Their form master, at the rear, was Mr Hanrahan, who taught Latin.
George, who now lives in Blackburn, is fifth from the left in the middle row.
He said: "I have to smile nowadays at the mass of hair I had then. These days I feel proud if a No 1 cut can take anything off! In those days we had to wear the school cap when going to, or from school. Woe betide anyone who failed to doff their cap if meeting, or passing a teacher in the street."
