(Lawrences Lane Thatcham/Cold Ash, Deadmans Lane, Theale And Station Road, Newbury (Prohibition Of Motor Vehicles (Experimental)) Order 2022

West Berkshire District Council has made an Order under Section 9 of and to the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, the effect of which is to prohibit all motor vehicles from proceeding as follows:
IN THE PARISH OF THATCHAM AND COLD ASH
Lawrence's Lane, Between the south side of access Cold Ash/ to Park Farm and a point approx.

Thatcham 200m north of Lawrence's Lane (cul de sac).
IN THE PARISH OF THEALE
Deadmans Lane, Between its junction with Englefield Theale Road and a point approx. 30m north of its junction with Spring Gardens
IN THE TOWN OF NEWBURY
Station Road, Between its junctions with Newbury Bartholomew Street and Link Road

The Order will contain exemptions to the Proposal as follows:
(a) Pedal cycle which is not motorised

(b) Any vehicles being used in connection with the removal of any obstruction to highway users within said restricted road

(c) Any vehicle being used in connection with

the maintenance, improvement or reconstruction of the restricted road or adjacent land
(d) Any vehicle being used in connection with the laying, erection, alteration or repair in or adjacent to that length of road of any sewer or of any main, pipe

or apparatus for the supply of gas, water, electricity or telecommunications
(e) Any vehicle being used in connection with fire, police or ambulance purposes

The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Within the period of the Order [Eighteen months] from the 23 June 2022 (or if the Order is subsequently varied by another Order under Section 9 of the Act or modified pursuant to sub-section (2) of Section 10 of the Act from the coming into operation of that variation or modification whichever is the latest) any person may object [within six months of the Notice date] to the making of any Order for the purposes of such indefinite continuation. Any such objection must be in writing and must give the grounds on which it is made and must be sent to the undersigned quoting reference 008301MS

The Order was made on 20 June 2022 and will come into operation on 1 July 2022
Copies of the Order, statement of reasons and relevant map may be inspected during the hours of 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays at the offices of West Berkshire District Council (at main reception on the Ground floor) Council Offices Market Street Newbury RG14 5LD for a period of six weeks from the date of this Notice.
