WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 9 and 10 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act") the effect of which is to introduce a School Streets Prohibition of Driving at Calcot Infants and Junior Schools as follows:-IN THE PARISH OF TILEHURST Calcot Infant and Junior Schools Monday to Friday 08:15 - 09:15 and 14:30 -15:30

STATEMENT OF REASONS
This Experimental Order designates a part timeroad closure during school term time in Royal Avenue in order to reduce the number of vehicles around Calcot Infant and Junior Schools.
The Experimental Order is intended to provide a safer environment for children travelling to and from the schools, as well as enabling greater social distancing. It is also intended to encourage more physically active journeys and help in improving air quality surrounding the schools. The Experimental Order is introduced as an experimental scheme so that the public's response to it may be assessed over a trial period, after which the Council intends to consider making a permanent Order having the same effect.
Copies of the Order and explanatory Statement can be inspected during the hours of 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays at the offices of West Berkshire District Council (at main reception on the ground floor), Council Offices Market Street Newbury Berkshire RG14 5LD and on the Council's website at
The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Within the period of the Order (6 months) from the 2 September 2021 (or if the Order is subsequently varied by another Order under Section 9 of the Act or modified pursuant to sub-section (2) of Section 10 of the Act from the coming into operation of that variation or modification whichever is the latest) any person may object to the making of an Order for the purposes of such indefinite continuation. Any such objection must be in writing and must give the grounds on which it is made and must be sent to the undersigned quoting reference 007857MS.
If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any provisions contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks from the 26 August 2021 apply to the High Court for this purpose. The Order was made on 23 August 2021 and will come into operation on 2 September 2021 and will be in force until 2 March 2023.
