NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M65 Motorway, in the Boroughs of Hyndburn and Burnley, in the County of Lancashire, to enable resurfacing works, bridge joint replacement works, barrier works, and other general maintenance; to be carried out in safety.
that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M65 Motorway, in the Boroughs of Hyndburn and Burnley, in the County of Lancashire, to enable resurfacing works, bridge joint replacement works, barrier works, and other general maintenance; to be carried out in safety.
a) The Order will impose a 50 mph speed limit on the following sections of the M65 Motorway:

i. the eastbound carriageway, from Dunkenhalgh Aqueduct Bridge, to the first point at which the J10 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

ii. the westbound carriageway, from the last point at which the J10 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to a point 145 metres west of the first point at which the J7 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

iii. the eastbound and westbound entry slip roads at J7;

iv. the eastbound and westbound entry slip roads at J8;

v. the westbound entry slip road at J9;

vi. the westbound entry slip road at J10.

b) The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M65 Motorway:

i. the eastbound carriageway, from the last point at which the J8 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the J10 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

ii. the westbound carriageway, from the last point at which the J10 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the J8 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

iii. the eastbound carriageway, from a point 450 metres west of the first point at which the J7 entry slip road joins the carriageway, to a point 200 metres west of the first point at which the J10 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

iv. the westbound carriageway, from a point 65 metres west of the last point at which the J10 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to a point 140 metres east of the first point at which the J7 entry slip road joins the carriageway;

v. the eastbound entry slip road at J7;

vi. the westbound exit slip road at J7;

vii. the eastbound exit and entry slip roads at J8;

viii. the westbound exit slip road at J8 (including the designated link to the A56 southbound carriageway);

ix. the westbound entry slip road at J8;

x. the eastbound exit slip road at J9;

xi. the westbound entry slip road at J9;

xii. the eastbound exit slip road at J10;

xiii. the westbound entry slip road at J10.

c) The Order will allow the lengths of hard shoulder adjacent to the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the motorway as described at b) iii. and b) iv. to be used as running lanes. A 50 mph speed limit will be imposed on all traffic using the hard shoulders.

The works are expected to be in place overnight between 20:00 and 05:00 (continuing to 07:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Wednesday 4 December 2019 and ending on Friday 20 March 2020.
However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed.
Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M65 Motorway and local roads will be well signed.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall, from time to time, be indicated by traffic signs.
