THE Parish Council has learnt that the East Lancashire Primary Care Trust has refused permission for a pharmacy to open on Brownside Road on the grounds it is not necessary as there is already a pharmacy 1.71 miles from the village centre.

But the Parish Council has written to disagree, saying there is a need for a pharmacy as not all residents are affluent.

As Worsthorne does not have a GP surgery this makes an even stronger case for a pharmacy able to provide OTC, diagnostic testing, smoking cessation, repeat prescription and many other essential, advanced services.
