KATHERINE BAKER has been selected to play for Great Britain in mid-July in the prestigious European Individual Junior Championships.

This is is an event for the top two Under 16 players of all the countries in the European Tennis Association.

The Pamiters' school pupil is one of 77 players entered into the tournament, which will be held at the National Clay Court Tennis Centre at Queenswood School in Brookmans Park, from Monday, July 23 to Sunday, July 29.

There are events for both boys and girls and, as attendance is free every day, there will be a great opportunity for all budding tennis players to go along and see the stars of the future in the making.

Katharine, who at 15 is a year younger than most of the girls who will be playing, has been selected after the recognition of her achievement in rising up the European rankings from nowhere to her current position of 23.
