On behalf of the Losang Dragpa Budhist Centre, Savills have been instructed to market for sale Dobroyd Castle in West Yorkshire with a guide price of excess £2.25M.
Dobroyd Castle in an impressive 19th Century castle (Grade II * Listed) with extensive accomodation overlooking Todmorden and the surrounding countryside. The approximate total floor area extends to 48,915 st ft GIA. The property benefits from formal gardens, including walled garden and woodland which extends to approximately 17.5 acres.
The current use has been as a Budhist residential retreat, however, potential for alternative uses may exist subject to the necessary consents.
Dobroyd Castle was built by John Fielden in 1869 by the well known architect John Gibson. The castle remained in the Fielden family unitl 1942 when it was acquired by the Government and operated by the Home Office as an approved school for boys. The property was acquired by the Losang Dragpa Budhist Centre in 1995.
