A POLICE officer who started his career in 1980 at Todmorden is returning to the town as head of the Neighbourhood Policing Team.
PC John Spence is taking over from PC Martin Langan, who has been moved to Hebden Bridge to take over a new role there.
PC Spence will be working with the two new community officers, who will be part funded by Todmorden Town Council in a new scheme.
PC Spence said he was looking forward to attending the town's ward meetings.
He said: "In Todmorden, like many other places, there has been a problem because of kids drinking in the town. This has led to nuisance drinking and one of my aims is to stamp this out."
An officer for 27 years, he has been based at Halifax since the early 1990s after a spell at Ovenden.
But he is back in more familiar surroundigs and says he is looking forward to the challenges ahead.
