Adam Dadswell a 20-year-old Ramsbottom student has qualified as a member of the Magic Circle. Adam who lives in Brooksbottom Close had to pass an interview and then perform a routine in front of three judges. Close-up Magic is Adam's speciality and he performs at a variety of functions.

Irresponsible dog owners are being targeted by Rossendale Council as part of a campaign to reduce the amount of dog fouling in the borough; The hotspots being targeted in the Haslingden area include Victoria Park, Greenfield Memorial Gardens, Curven Edge, Helmshore Road, Peel Street, Sunnybank Street, Hillside Road, Sandown Road, the Pit Heads garage site in Piccadilly Street and Higher Lane up to the Halo.
