At the last area council it was mentioned that some new legislation has been introduced with regards to dog fouling.

I am chairman of the Rishton West Residents Association and I know its a particular concern in this area.

We haven't had powers to do anything about it, until now, because the new rules mean that it is an offence to not pick up mess after your dog.

This means that we now have the legal power to call and report the incident to the police when we see someone who does not clean up after their dog.

Hopefully this will deter those who continuously allow their pets to foul up our town.
