Rossendale is to have a new Community Radio station,Radio body Ofcom announced today.The licence will last for a period of five years.The station will serve the towns of Bacup,Haslingden,Ramsbottom,Rawtenstall,Whitworth and surrounding villages.See tomorrows Lancashire Telegraph newspaper for full details.The station aims to give full and comprehensive news and sports coverage for Ramsbottom.
Jazz could be a regular feature at a Ramsbottom pub.Suzy's Little Big Band is playing at the Rose and Crown on Tuesday 19th February at 8.30pm.Admission is £4.Landlord Chris McClung hopes the Jazz night will be a regular feature and hopes to hold events monthly.Currently vocalists and bands also play on a Saturday night at the pub on Carr Street.

The Friends of Ramsbottom Civic Hall are to hold an event on Sunday 3rd February at the Hall in Market Place.It starts at 11am.The mayor of Bury is to attend and former Northwest Tonight and Ramsbottom resident Martin Henfield.A karate demonstration is due at 12.30pm with line dancing at 2.30pm.Free admission to the public.Doors close at 4pm.The group exists to keep the hall open after its threatened closure over the years.Membership of the group is £2.
