Work will be starting shortly to build new leisure facilities on the current leisure centre site. There has been much debate over the facade of the building as Darwen residents want to retain that bit of heritage and history.

Residents of Darwen will know that this road must now be driven in the opposite direction to get through the town. The road systems have all been altered after extensive works
