Action on the road to the Tip

This Sunday sees Whinney Hill Road closed to traffic whilst improvement works are started.

Lancashire County Council are resurfacing part of the road, reinstating white lines and erecting chevrons on the dangerous bend at the bottom of the hill.

This is all part of a drive by Independent Councillor Malcolm Pritchard to clean up the environment near Huncoat particularly along Whinney Hill Road where litter, debris and fly-tipping constantly make the place an absolute mess.

He is seeking the cooperation of SITA landfill operations and Hansons Brickworks to cut back overhanging trees and shrubbery which snag rubbish and step up litter picking on their respective patches.

Already the Huncoat Caretaker has started work on cutting back the trees and shrubs on the other side of Whinney Hill Road so that he can more effectively litter pick on a 3 weekly alternating cycle with Hyndburn Street Cleansing.

Also the householder at Whinney Hill House has been asked to clear up rubbish overflowing from his property.

Malcolm says Huncoat has put up with enough rubbish and the time has come to give the people the clean environment they wish for and deserve.
