I am a volunteer on the Hoddlesden Millennium Green Trust.
Each summer we organise a successful Grand Summer Picnic' on the Hoddlesden Millennium Green, which usually attracts around 120 local people majority of which are families.
Last year we had a jazz band, a children's story teller, boules, raffle & face painting.

The whole afternoon was a great success and it is of course free to all, which is very unusual in this day and age.
On the main committee there are 7 volunteers of different ages. An event like this takes some good planning and further assistance on the day i.e. erecting marquees etc.
We are looking for some extra volunteers that could assist in the following areas:
The planning side i.e drawing up newsletters, organising raffle prizes, delivering of newsletters.
Preparation of the green ie mowing grass, tidying beds.
Erecting of tents on the day.
Without these additional volunteers the whole event may not be able to go ahead.
So many people have enjoyed the event for the past 7 years, three or four volunteers would make the difference and ensure that the event could take place successfully in 2008!
I really do not want to think about cancelling the event as community based events are important & everyone has such a fantastic time.
