Saturday 16th February was a wonderful sunny day, perfect weather for outdoor work.
An energetic group of volunteers comprising of members of the PROSPECTS Panel, together with local residents tackled the woodland that is Edge End Wood, in Great Harwood.
The main objective of the day was to clear the pathway and trim overhanging branches to let light reach areas of the park to encourage growth.

The volunteers got to work at 10.00 am and carried on through to 3.30 pm.
Trimmed branches were reused to create hedge ways that reconstructs the line of the pathway up to the woods. This is a great utilization of the excess wood as it will create a natural habitat for wildlife.
Other activities on the day involved the inclusion of young children: children carried out litter picks, planted young trees and were educated about the trees they were placing in the area.
