There's a lot to be said about villages. They are usually close-knit communities and residents have strong links to each other.
Foulridge is no different.
The landlady of New Inn, Donna Lunt, spoke to me this about the Fun Day they held last weekend in order to raise funds for the Foulridge pre-school.
"We didn't have as many kids there as we hoped but it was a good do.
"It was only on from 12 until 4pm but we were busy in the pub serving food as well so there was full house and great atmosphere.
"We had a few activities on throughout the day which helped us to raise £60 for the pre-school."

Now those of you from larger towns and areas probably don't think £60 is a lot but for a small village I think they did quite well.
According to Donna, they had an egg designing competition for the kids, and a raffle for the adults - 1st prize was a big cuddly toy of, rather appropriately, a bunny.
2nd prize was a free carpet clean. 3rd prize was a bottle of Cointreau liquer, which had been kindly donated by the lady who did the face painting on the day.
Donna told me "We paid a fee to the face painter but she didn't charge anyone who had their faces painted.
"Everyone got into the fun, even me and my daughter who works behind the bar with me got our faces painted!"
In the spirit of Easter, they had also scattered chocolate eggs in various places around the pub and let the children take part in an Egg hunt.
"We want to keep it in the village, we support each other and will continue to do so."
Let's hope Donna and her family have many more events to come!
