As you may or may not know, I have a new project to carry out once each week.
'Vida's Walkabout' is basically my report of what I see and find whilst visiting your town or village. Earlier this month, I came to Foulridge and made my very first video to accompany my written report.
I spoke to Mr. David Ingham, your local butcher, who seemed proud to tell me he had a great customer base, and received plenty of support from the residents of the village. So well done Foulridge for supporting your local traders!
Taking a short walk down to the wharf I discovered a couple of blokes fishing. To be honest, I was surprised to find people fishing on the canal, especially in early November.
I did however, learn of the swimming cow, who apparently fell in the canal and swam the Mile Tunnel. I'm not going to dispute this story, but I would like for anyone to tell me a little more about it!
The very first time I visited Foulridge, way back in the summer (or what should have been summer), I grew a little soft spot for the place.

I love your village green, it is a beautiful example of what a village green should resemble, quaint, tree-covered, quiet and right next to the village hall.
The surrounding countryside is beautiful, as it always is in Lancashire. You are privileged to have so many wonderful places within short walking distance.
Everyone I've spoke to from your village has been pleasant, polite and welcoming and I hope that this continues.
My only concern, and from what I gather this is also a concern of some residents, is the main road.
It is used heavily as it is a main route to Skipton from Colne, with lots of articulated vehicles passing through the village. Despite the fact that there is a 30 mph speed limit enforced, it seemed to me as though many disregard it.
I also noticed that for the length of the road, and the spread of residences along this road, there is not much opportunity to cross it safely, apart from the one set of lights near the War Memorial.
What do you think as residents? And is there anything in your area that I missed but deserves some recognition?
Look out for next week's episode of Vida's Walkabout which could be in a town near you!
