Local Colne Historians have objected to a Pub being named after teetotaller, Wallace Hartley, the famous Band Master, who played on while the Titanic sank in 1912.

Haslingden & Helmshore Band have won first prize at the Pontin's National Brass Band championships at Prestatyn Sands, North Wales. The band have now won first prize at the Butlin's and Pontin's championships in the same year.
