2008 is a National Year of Reading and Blackburn with Darwen libraries are celebrating reading in all its forms during the course of the year

The theme for April is 'Read all about it!'which encourages people to read anything and everything, anywhere and everywhere!

Even people who say they don't read, in actual fact do. During the course of a day we are constantly reading, anything from cereal packets at breakfast, road signs on the way to work, timetables, tv listings and adverts. Without reading and interpreting what we see it is difficult to make sense of everyday life.

But reading can also enrich and enhance everyday life - it can take us to the heart of human experience and beyond, to other imaginary worlds.

Blackburn with Darwen libraries will be hosting author visits, events and activities celebrating reading for all the family, throughout the year. For more information on these, plus recommendations for some really good reads, whatever your taste, call 01254 661221 or call in at your local library and join in the fun!
