many of you will already know what this charity is about, but for those who don't Sophie Lancaster was a local girl who was killed in a hate crime because she was a 'goth', now to help others in this predicament and to raise awareness about this happening S.O.P.H.I.E has been set up by friends and family of Sophie this stands for "Stamp Out Prejudice Hatred and Intolerance Everywhere"

The group, founded four years ago and serving local people primarily in Blackburn with Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley, will be meeting at Crosshill eLearning Centre on Shadsworth Road in Blackburn this Thursday, 24th April, commencing at 7pm.

Blackburn with Darwen V Project takes the place of the former Millennium Volunteers initiative.
Hopefully you have never had the need to go into hospital, but if you do, you want to know that you'll be entertained on those long days when there are no visitors.

Walking around Blackburn Town Centre over the last few weeks, I've started to notice a worrying trend - lack of people around. I realise its holiday time, and people take days out and about but please spare a thought for us in Blackburn. During all this redevelopment work we need your loyalty more than ever, and prospective business's looking at Blackburn as a place to invest need to see it busy - so when your next looking to shop or just go out for the day, don't wait until its all finished but come and look at how the face of Blackburn is changing.
An evening of clairvoyance with Mick Platt will be held at Blackburn Spiritualist Church, St Peter Street on Thursday, April 3 from 7pm until 8.30pm. £2.50 donation on the door. Everyone welcome.

Almost every day in recent weeks, clients and friends have complained to me that they seem to see an unprecidented number of less desirable people around the town centre these days. They are not talking about Goths or Trogs or any other so-called fashion group, no, they are concerned about the influx of people who make us feel a little anxious or uncomfortable.
