The Scouts are a major worldwide organisation with something like 28 million members, made up of adults and children alike.
But for now, we are concerned only with our little neck of the woods and Wensley Fold will soon have its own branch of Beavers - a sub-group of the Scouts which is for children of both sexes aged 6 to 8 years old.
On Saturday March 15, an open day was held at the Space Centre which is in the grounds of Wensley Fold Primary School.
The aim of the day was to introduce the group to the area, and give both parents and children a few tasters of the kinds of activities the Beavers get involved in.
I spoke with Nigel Parkinson, of Blackburn District Scouts, just to find out a little bit more on how the day went.
"It was through talking to parents and the school that we decided a Beaver group was ideal for this area.

"We've had a great response from parents and have already got about 37 names down to join.
"One of the great things about Scouts is that is crosses all cultures, religions and backgrounds.
"This group will be membered by predominantly Muslim kids because of the area it will be based in, which is a bit of a first for us locally."
Nigel told me of the mobile zoo that came in on the day - introducing snakes, lizards and owls amongst other animals to the children who attended.
Apparently no one was scared and everyone was up for having a feel!
The Beaver group will officially open on April 26 although there won't be a ceremony at that time.
Rather, Nigel says they will wait until the investiture - the ceremony when the children take their Scouting oaths and receive their necker ties - and have a larger celebration at that time.
The cake was commissioned specially for the day, and was made by a volunteer who works with the Scouts.
