More than 100,000 extra tickets across all sports at the Commonwealth Games are to be put on general sale.

About 2.3 million applications were made for the initial one million tickets that were released last year.

Organisers said the finalising of venue layouts and seating plans at Glasgow 2014 has allowed them to find the extra tickets.

Seats for all 17 sports and the opening and closing ceremonies will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis from 10am on Monday, May 12.

Ticket prices start at £15 for adults and £7.50 for under-16s and over-60s.

Glasgow 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg said: "This is another exciting moment for Glasgow 2014 as we give even more people the chance to be part of the Games.

"We have always said we want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to experience world-class sport and we are delighted to be able to offer these extra tickets for all sports and ceremonies.

"The demand for Glasgow 2014 tickets has been simply incredible and we can't wait to welcome the world to Glasgow and Scotland."
