Ian Bell will join England's Twenty20 squad in Barbados next week as cover following injuries to batsmen Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales.
Bell, rested for the ongoing one-day international series against West Indies in Antigua, is not yet part of England's ICC World Twenty20 squad.
England have nonetheless decided they need to bring the Warwickshire man in to bolster their options for three Twenty20 matches against the reigning world champions.
Morgan and Hales both missed Friday's opening ODI defeat against West Indies, with respective knee and thigh problems.
Limited-overs coach Ashley Giles said: "We are going to call-up a replacement to come to Barbados and that is Ian Bell.
"He is a world class player, a world class fielder and a world class bloke, so we look forward to meeting up with him in Barbados.
"He wasn't in the original 30, but with those two different sorts of players and the cover we need, and the conditions we are going to face in Bangladesh, Belly has the ability to play all those different roles."
Bell has played just seven Twenty20s for England, with the last of his caps coming against Australia in January 2011.
