Douglas: Scherzinger is my friend

Jahmene Douglas has revealed that he is still in constant contact with his X Factor mentor Nicole Scherzinger.

The 22-year-old runner-up of the series worked alongside former Pussycat Doll Nicole for months on his X Factor performances.

"Me and Nicole are always emailing, always texting, she's just there as a friend. She's always been there as a friend and it's nice to have that," he said.

Nicole was famed on the talent show for coining interesting phrases, including the popular "shamazing".

The singer often referred to her protege as her "little lamb chop" and Jahmene revealed he has now graduated from this status.

"I got a text from her the other day saying, 'Well done, you're a fully grown lamb now.' So I know that I've made it, because of that!"

Jahmene, who is getting prepared for The X Factor tour in January, credits another American star, the late Whitney Houston, as his ultimate icon.

"I just think she's the best - her voice, her looks, she just had it all. I think most singers' favourite singer is Whitney Houston," he added.
