L.A. Reid quitting US X Factor
L.A. Reid is quitting his position as judge on the US version of The X Factor.
The veteran music executive is not returning to the Fox singing talent show next season, a representative for Epic Records confirmed. Reid is currently the chairman and CEO of Epic, a division of Sony Entertainment.
He told Access Hollywood: "I have decided that I will not return to The X Factor next year. I have a company to run that I've kind of neglected."
Reid added of leaving the show: "It saddens me a little bit, but only a little bit.
"It was a nice break, but now I've got to go back to work."
He joined the judging panel of the American version of the show last year along with creator Simon Cowell, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. The finale of the second series will take place next week.
Last year Reid left his job as chairman and CEO of Island Def Jam Music Group, where he helped launch careers for acts like Rihanna and Justin Bieber.
At Epic, his roster includes Sade, Fiona Apple, Karmin, Ciara and X Factor season one winner Melanie Amaro.
