Jon Hamm appears in new drama A Young Doctor's Notebook
Jon Hamm has said he fears being hammered for his English accent in his new TV drama.
The Mad Men star plays a doctor in pre-Revolutionary Russia in A Young Doctor's Notebook, on Sky Arts 1.
Although the drama, which also stars Daniel Radcliffe, is set in Russia, Jon - who stars as suave New York advertising executive Don Draper in Mad Men - has to play the role with an English accent.
He told the Radio Times: "I have something approximating an English accent. I'm sure I will be eviscerated for my horrible attempt, but I am giving it a try."
Asked whether he was any good, he laughed: "I am very aware of Dick Van Dyke, but I hope I will be marginally better than that."
Dick Van Dyke played cockney chimney sweep Bert in classic musical film Mary Poppins, but his accent was derided as one of the worst in film history.
