YOUNG learners got a lesson from one of the country's top achievers - six-times world snooker champion Steve Davis - at a competition in Padiham.
The former world number one stopped at the town's snooker club as part of an initiative involving the Learning and Skills Council.
Youngsters aged 16 to 18 from the Lancashire Work-Based Learning Executive Forum's Entry to Employment (e2e) scheme, which aims to get teenagers not in further education to take up apprenticeships, trainings or secure a job, played the ace.
Steve, who was sponsored by the former Padiham-based tables manafacturer Rileys in his heyday, rounded off the day with a trick shot exhibition.
Raeleen Dutholt, the scheme's manager, said: "The event was organised to celebrate the success of learners from the e2e program, encourage teamwork and promote some good life skills."
Veteran Steve, now also a BBC commentator, remained undefeated despite the youngsters' best efforts.
