Rossendale scored their first away victory of the season when they came from behind to deny the Burnage the points.

Playing on an unaccustomed surface took the visitors a while to adapt, Burnage’s surface being the latest synthetic idea at beating the bad weather.

They allowed Burnage to open up a 18-6 lead at the break with Dale’s points coming from the boot of young fly half Will Sharratt’s boot who kicked two of his four penalty attempts.

The second period saw a different contest. Rossendale firmly got the bit between their teeth and claimed their first try from number eight Danny Collins. Sharratt converted.

Dale quickly followed this up when prop forward Leyton Taylor bulldozed his way over in typical fashion.

Sharratt missed the conversion to leave it at 18-18, but from this point on Dale sensed victory and weren’t to be denied.

A try from centre Warne Van Zyl with five minutes to go was converted by Sharratt to give the valley side the important win to climb up to sixth place in National League Three North.
